Treatment Plans

Treatment Plans Overview

Organize proposed care into procedures and stages, track progress, and manage plan approval.

What are Dentaltap Treatment Plans?

Short answer: Dentaltap Treatment Plans organize proposed care into procedures and stages so teams can track progress, approval, and plan status.

Open the Plans workspace

  1. Open a patient.
  2. In the patient profile, select Plans beside Visits.
  3. Review the plan list and its status filter.

The list can show plans in these groups:

  • In Progress: plans that have started or have been sent and still contain unfinished work;
  • Preparation: plans that are being prepared;
  • Completed: approved plans whose procedures are complete;
  • Rejected: plans that were rejected and are kept for reference.

The default view prioritizes In Progress and Preparation. Choose another filter to review completed or rejected plans.

Create Treatment Plan

  1. Click New Plan.
  2. If the clinic has more than one branch, choose the branch for the plan.
  3. Open the new plan from the list.
  4. Give the plan a clear name and add the planned procedures.

Use a demo or training patient when learning this workflow because creating a plan adds a record to the patient's profile.

Understand the plan workspace

When you open a plan, the workspace brings the plan information and planned care together:

  • Plan header: plan name, code, status, Send, Print, and plan actions;
  • Summary: patient, branch, tax, discount, deposit, and important dates;
  • Stages: All Stages and individual stages such as Stage 1 or Stage 2;
  • Dental Chart: review or add conditions associated with the plan;
  • Procedures: review planned procedures, their status, appointment dates, and progress.

Select a stage to focus the procedure list on one part of the plan. Select All Stages to review the complete plan.

Plan status

Use the status control in the plan header to move the plan through the clinic workflow:

  • Preparation: the plan is being prepared;
  • Sent: the plan has been sent for review or patient communication;
  • Approved: the plan has been accepted and can move into delivery;
  • Rejected: the plan is not being accepted in its current form.

Change the status only when it matches the clinic's process. A locked plan cannot be changed until an authorized user unlocks it.

Plan actions

The plan actions menu can provide:

  • Signatures or Add Signature;
  • Lock or Unlock;
  • Rename;
  • Clone;
  • Delete when the plan is not locked.

Approved plans can also expose plan-specific financial actions such as adding a deposit. Review the plan summary and confirm the patient before saving any change.

Update Treatment Plan

Open the saved plan to update the name, procedures, stages, summary details, or status.

Delete Treatment Plan

Use the plan actions menu to delete a plan only when it should be fully removed. Locked plans may need to be unlocked first.

Treatment Plans and Treatment History

Treatment History records documented clinical work. Treatment Plans describe intended care and its progress. A plan may also appear in the Treatment Plan history section, where the team can review it alongside the patient's clinical history.

Use Treatment History when you need to review clinical records. Use Treatment Plans when you need to prepare, organize, communicate, or track planned care.
