Medical Alerts
Configuration links
Open medical alerts
- Open Patients and select the patient.
- In the clinical history column, open Overview.
- Open the Medical Alerts card.
The exact cards and actions depend on the clinic's configuration and your permissions.
Create Medical Alert
To add an alert directly, open the relevant category and select its action, such as Add Allergy, Add Medication, or Add. Enter the alert, add a short modifier when needed, and save it.
This is useful when the patient is answering verbally, when the information did not come from a questionnaire, or when the clinic needs to confirm something immediately before treatment.
Review alerts before treatment
Open Medical Alerts before treatment when you need to check allergies, risks, or other configured alert categories.
Review unconfirmed alerts carefully. Depending on their permissions, users can approve or update alerts, or mark an entire category as not applicable.
Do not rely only on the summary card. Open the alert record when you need to verify the full patient information.
Update Medical Alert
Use the alert menu to edit the alert or its modifier when the patient's information changes. If the alert is still a suggestion, approve it only after the clinic confirms that it belongs in the patient's active record.
Delete Medical Alert
Delete an alert only when it was added by mistake or should not remain on the patient's chart. If a whole category was reviewed and should stay empty, use the category's not-applicable action instead of leaving it uncertain.
When to stop and verify
Pause before treatment when:
- an allergy may affect medication or materials;
- a risk alert changes the treatment plan;
- the alert status is unconfirmed;
- the patient says the information has changed.
If the alert looks incomplete or outdated, ask the clinic team to update it before continuing.
