Open Reports → General.

General is the business overview report. Use it when you want a quick executive summary of clinic performance for the selected period.

What General contains

The General report focuses on overall financial health:

  • Revenue: total income for the selected period.
  • Gross Profit: revenue after cost of goods and direct costs.
  • EBITDA: operating profit before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization.
  • Net Profit: final profit after expenses and adjustments included in the report.
  • Best Branch: the branch with the strongest result for the selected period.

Each main card can show margin and period comparison so managers can see both total amount and performance quality.

KPI strip

The KPI strip gives a compact view of business ratios and supporting totals:

  • Avg. Ticket: average revenue per visit or transaction, depending on the underlying clinic data.
  • COGS Ratio: cost of goods compared with revenue.
  • OpEx Ratio: operating expenses compared with revenue.
  • Salaries / OpEx: salary share inside operating expenses.
  • Total Expenses: expenses counted in the report period.
  • Tax Ratio: tax share compared with report totals.
  • D&A: depreciation and amortization total when configured.
  • Salaries: salary total included in the period.

Use these numbers to understand why revenue and profit moved. A clinic can increase revenue but still lose margin if expenses, salaries, or product costs rise faster.

Charts

General includes charts that explain the overall result:

  • Monthly Trend – Revenue vs Profit compares revenue, gross profit, and net profit across months.
  • Branch P&L Comparison compares revenue, net profit, and net margin between branches.
  • Revenue by Speciality shows which speciality groups contributed to revenue.
  • Expenses by Category shows where expenses were recorded.

Charts are best for spotting patterns. For example, a branch may have high revenue but lower net margin, or one expense category may explain most of the drop in profit.

Useful features

  • Change the date range to compare a day, week, month, or custom period.
  • Select a branch to review one location instead of the whole clinic.
  • Use Download Report to export the General report for review outside Dentaltap.

Use General before opening detailed reports. It tells you which area deserves closer attention: visits, finances, inventory, doctors, salaries, or expenses.
